Museum of the month
The Local History Museum of Porlammi in Lapinjärvi is a unit of eight old buildings at three different locations half a kilometer apart.
In the area of the "makasiini" (Kievarintie 27) there are four buildings: a granary from the 1860's, a garage from1928, a smithy from the 1940’s and a storage shed from the1970’s. The exhibitions are constructed of objects from the peasantry culture.
1876 was built the first small house to the Sirén house museum yard (Käkikoskentie 151). The entity consists of a dwelling house, two outbuildings, a draw well and a village swing.
The school museum (Kievarintie 2) is located in one end of a school building which was built in the 1850's and extended in the 1910's. The exhibition is a combination of objects from three closed village schools. The oldest desks, fitting three pupils, and a slate pencil black board are original, dating back to mid 1860's when the school was founded.
In August 2017 there are guided tours on Sundays at 12 o'clock starting at makasiini (granary) area, proceeding to Sirén house museum and ending at the school museum.
